set in Carton Pierre Casket 1855-65 "Anderssen"
The
set has very fine pieces. The pawns have exquisite collars. All pieces
have the
original felts, and it has come from a private house and has not been
"restored". These sets are found with Jaques labels indicating
1855-1860, and early post 1862 labels.
The Anderssen knights are upright and aggressive. They have the
usual variation from hand carving.
